Brae Privacy Policy

Brae is a local-first, on-device assistant. We do not collect, store, sell, or upload your personal data. Brae has no account system, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking.

Data stays on your device

Your chats, voice interactions, transcripts, notes, Library records, generated artifacts, memory, settings, and downloaded model files are stored locally on your device.

Network use

Brae makes network requests only when you start a feature that needs them:

• Nearby places and location. When you ask about nearby places or your current location, Brae uses Apple location and maps services.
• Model downloads. When you choose to download an on-device model, Brae downloads model files from Hugging Face.
• Optional web search. Web search is off by default. If you turn it on, Brae sends your search query to the search provider to retrieve results: DuckDuckGo by default, or Tavily if you add your own Tavily API key (stored only in your device Keychain). Search providers process queries under their own privacy policies (DuckDuckGo, Tavily), which may include retaining anonymized queries. Web search is the only feature that sends what you type off your device.
• Optional iCloud sync. iCloud sync is off by default. If you turn it on, your Brae data syncs across your devices through your private iCloud database using Apple's CloudKit. This data lives in your own iCloud account; we have no access to it.

App privacy label

Brae itself collects nothing: no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no server of ours ever receives your data. If you enable optional web search, your search queries are sent to the search provider to answer the request; the App Store privacy label discloses this as Search History that is not linked to your identity. Everything else stays on your device or in your private iCloud.

Deleting local data

You can clear local app data from Settings. Deleting the app also removes the local data stored by Brae on your device.
